Try These Simple Tips That Can Help You Totally Avoid Easy Bruising!

By Jan Doan

Bruises are injuries just below the skin with no open wounds to the skin. This usually happens when your body collides with or bumps into something hard. The blood from broken capillaries seeps into the tissues around the affected area and forms a bruise, which is also known as a contusion.

Most bruises are not caused by any serious disease, so you should not be overly concerned unless the bruise doesn't gradually heal or if it remains tender to the touch over the space of several days. Normally bruises will gradually vanish within a week or two from the time of the initial impact, and pain will disappear within a day or so.

Consider applying an ice pack immediately after getting a bruise for about seven minutes, as the cold will slow the amount of blood flowing to the injured area, and will thus limit the amount of blood leaking into the tissues. Do not apply ice directly to the bruise, as this may cause damage to the skin. To ensure fast pain relief you may repeat the process at twenty minute intervals, until the pain subsides.

Understand that you using an ice pack improperly or applying ice directly to a bruise can cause more damage to the area than what was caused by the impact that created the bruise. Mind your application times, do not shorten your intervals between applications, and stop all applications when your pain is gone.

Even though the bruises are still visibly red, you should forgo any further treatment for about 5 hours as long as you no longer feel pain. You're now ready to start applying warm, nearly hot, compresses for about twenty minutes each hour. Using a compress that is too hot so as to burn the skin will not be beneficial for helping your bruises heal as quickly as possible. Using the proper amount of heat will help your body rejuvenate, and will stimulate the rapid healing of your skin, muscle tissues, and capillary walls that were damaged by the impact that caused the bruise in the first place.

One thing you should keep in mind that you can help reduce the pain and swelling associated with bruising by simply elevating the affected area above your heart to minimize the blood flow to the injured area. If you become ill or lightheaded by elevating the injured area, it might be wise to see your doctor.

Topically applied arnica gel three or four times a day has proved effective for helping heal bruises for some people. It can reduce swelling and help the bruise to fade quickly. Forming a tincture with arnica, water, and alcohol can also be beneficial if properly formulated. Generally, one part water to five parts alcohol with the arnica is a good starting point. Other people use apple cider vinegar the same way people use arnica tinctures, with similar results.

These are some simple and common tips that may prove beneficial for you in treating existing bruises. A much better situation is to prevent bruising easily in the first place by following the all natural Bruises Be Banned daily supplement program. People all over the world have proved that this program can help eliminate the need to treat existing bruises.
