Acne And Your Baby

If the baby's skin irritation looks scaly or very rashy then a condition called eczema is likely to be the blame for it, also bear in mind, that heat rash can sometimes look like acne. Baby acne is caused by hormones that the mother passes on to the child during the last stages of the final trimester, these same hormones sometimes gives the mother herself acne.

External things that might trigger this kind of acne are baby formula and spit-up that gets on the baby's skin, if the baby's blanket is too rough or it is washed in a harsh detergent, this can be a trigger for acne. Try as much as possible to wash your child's clothes blanket and sheets in fabric softener as this might help. Do not use any cream or soaps on the babies face as this might flair up acne, you also want to avoid using baby oils and lotions.

Sometimes the irritation may look scaly or rashy this is call eczema so not mistake this for acne, heat rash can sometimes look like acne as well. Bay acne occurs due to hormones which the mother inadvertently passes to the child in the final trimester, these hormones may cause the mother to have acne as well. Be careful to watch the type of formula you give your baby as this as well as spit-up can cause your baby to get acne. Sometimes the blankets you use may be too rough and the chemicals in detergent may be harsh and once they rub against your babies skin the baby can get acne. Washing your baby's blankets in fabric softner will help to ensure that your baby's skin is protected from damage and irritation.

Baby acne often affects parents more than it does the baby, meaning, the baby usually doesn't care about the acne, it is the parents that are disturbed by the sight of it. First time parents are often the most bothered by acne problems and they are the ones who are most likely to

Acne on a baby's skin is often more disturbing to the parents than the child. Parents often feel like it defaces their child and makes their child less cute. First time mom and dads are usually the ones who are the most disturbed by acne on their newborns face. This of course is very understandable and totally expected. the best thing to do is to stay as informed as possible so that you do not overreact to any changes you notice in your baby.The child however is usually not perturbed by the acne. If you have concerns then air them out with your pediatrician to receive expert advice.
