Are Chemical Peeling Side Effects Seriously This Bad?

By Jeff Kappel

I want to start off by letting you know that chemical peels can be a great treatment for many different types of skin conditions that we may have when they are applied correctly. With that being said, there are some small risks that someone like yourself should get more information on when it comes to the subject of chemical peels. With the current popularity level of chemical peels done from home, this is a must read.

One of the first warnings that you will hear from most anyone regarding the dangerous of chemical peels is that you should do you best to avoid any and all excess exposure to the sun for a few days after your chemical peel was applied. Even though it might seem like a bit of an inconvenience this is a major step in clearing up your skin tone.

Secondly, if you don't heed to this advice and expose yourself directly to an excess amount of sunlight you can expect your skin to develop a brownish tint to it and it might even have a hint of yellow. You are much better off by taking a couple days off after the peel and avoiding sun exposure all together.
Common Chemical Peeling Side Effects You Should Be Aware Of

Depending on the severity of your skin condition or how pervasive the skin problem might be, there is a chance that you will need to do more than one treatment to help eradicate the problem. Typically you will see people repeat the chemical peel about every 30 days or so, but once again this is all dependent on your skin type and how it reacts to the peel. It's important that you give your skin time to heal.

Since there are so many varying degrees of skin conditions that anyone of us may encounter quite often you will see people applying repeat treatments to the area they want to clear up. Your skin cells regenerate about every 30 days so if an extra sequence of peels are needed they are usually done every 30-45 days to make sure that your skin has had adequate time to heal itself.

The nice thing about chemical peels even though they may have some side effects (just like anything) is that they are a great way for you to increase your skin tone and have healthy, vibrant, and young looking skin. This is achieved during the peel processed when the size of your skin pores are shrunk down and decreased in size. Lighter skin conditions, redness, and wrinkles will often disappear after a few days of the treatment, but once again this is dependent on your skin type and whether or not you are going to need additional treatments.

Now that you have gotten some much needed information about some of the pros and cons of chemical peels you should know that they are extremely beneficial for a variety of different skin conditions that a person may have. One or more treatments may be necessary and it's never a bad idea to consult your dermatologist if you run into any questions or concerns.
