Here Are The Differences Between Blending And Juicing?

By Adah Forgione

Should I blend or should I juice? For people that are trying to eat more health, this is actually a very common question. This problem transpired to me as I was debating which kitchen equipment I should buy - blender or juicer? I pondered whether this was a marketing scheme by manufacturers to get people to shell out more income. So to ease my mind that I was not walking into a well-laid marketing trap, I did my research and found to my big surprise, that there are substantial variations that warrant such blatant consumerism..

Here are the Definitions of Juicing and Blending

In juicing, the essence of fruits and vegetables are produced. Blending is when you put all the materials, two or more, into the blender and cut and merge them together to get a thicker, pulpy liquid. Juicing is essentially a method to just get the fresh fruits and vegetables juices extracted to make a very thin drink like buying apple or orange juice from the store. Blending together vs. Juicing

Both blending and juicing turn whole foods into a liquid form. This is really the extent of the similarities. Juicing and blending have fundamental variations, such as:

Making juice with a machine separates fiber and leaves it completely out while blending keeps it in the drink for a fuller effect. So juicing is completely liquid and a bit more easier and delightful to drink, while blending provides more nutrients but is thicker and a bit more to take down

Juice is very easily absorbed by the body because it is just juice and quickly can enter the bloodstream. However, blended drinks are more satisfying, and can sometimes be the meal in itself. Juice provides less satiety and cannot stand alone as a meal, unless you are doing a juice fast.

With blending, fruits and veggies are used to get the whole food fiver and vitamins, you get it all. While juicing is mainly for extracting the vitamins, minerals, and natural sugars. Both methods serve there purpose well. If you juice your drink, be sure to drink it right away before oxidation begins to occur which makes the drink less alive.

This does not mean that you have to choose over the other (although this means you have to buy both blender and juicer). Both processes have their advantages and disadvantages. You can reap the benefits of both by alternating them.
